There are a lot of guitars falsely credited to Japanese manufacturers that were actually made in China and Korea. Responding to the market’s desire for lower priced instruments, Fender opened its own Japanese plant in 1982. The Japanese Fender guitars are not “lawsuit guitars.” But, they tend to be great, high-quality instruments. Help Identifying a Korean-Made Harmony Est. 1892 Acoustic Guitar By Tanya Brody; Updated September 15, 2017 Although Harmony Guitars was originally established in 1892 in the U.S., any Harmony guitar that has that phrase, 'est. 1892' is actually an Asian-made guitar.
Day-Um! What can I say about a guitar that comes with its own story.
Back in the 70's and 80's, a bunch of disgruntled Gibson guitar makers spurred off to form their own companies. Dixon was one of them, producing first class guitars, resembling the Gibson line. In this case, it's a Hummingbird.
Solid mahogany back and sides, with a solid spruce top come together to make a very impressive sound.
Grover tuners, classic Gibson styling, and a bell-like sound that will be very familiar if you know what to listen for ;-)
Inside the sound hole, there's a Gibson label glued to the inside of the back.
I'm not making any claims other than to tell you what I have, and potentially, what you could have.
This is a really pretty guitar. A few dings and scratches, but nothing you wouldn't expect from a lovely 32 year-old girl. No cracks or anything to effect the sound quality. She is really pretty.
A great collectible, waiting for your story.
